This is a small site run by one person. Here is plainly what happens to information when you visit it.
This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. Google sets cookies and collects things like your approximate location (city level, from your IP address), your browser and device type, and which pages you viewed. It does not tell me who you are. I use it only to understand how many people are finding the site and what they look at.
Alongside page views, the site records a few anonymous interaction events — when someone clicks the contact email, opens a social link, taps a "Watch" link, submits a spot, or votes. These are counts of actions, not records of who did them.
You can opt out across every site that uses Google Analytics with Google's opt-out browser add-on, or by using your browser's tracking-protection settings.
If you submit a pizzeria through the Community Picks form, the name and town you typed are stored in a database (hosted by Supabase) so the suggestion can be reviewed and shown on the site. Do not put personal information in those boxes — they are meant for a business name and a town, and approved entries are displayed publicly.
Your vote is remembered in your own browser's local storage so the site knows which spots you already voted on. That stays on your device and is not sent to me.
The site is hosted by Netlify, the suggestion database is Supabase, analytics is Google Analytics, and the fonts come from Google Fonts. Each of those companies processes some technical data (such as your IP address) in order to serve the site to you. I do not sell anyone's information, and there is no advertising on this site.
This site is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect information from them.
If you submitted a suggestion you want taken down, or you want to ask what is stored, email me and I will handle it: collabs@kevshonestreviews.com.
If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it.
